Hey, Heidi (Heidy? Y or I?). I found those bent circular needles you like at Michaels in Latham Farms.
Not sure what your username is here, but thought I'd post and someone could pass it along. :)

Would any of the kind folks with Knitpicks interchangeable needles be willing to lend me one pair of size 8 tips for 2 weeks? I have cables but only size 4 tips. I love my Addis but my shawl is outgrowing the cable.

i'm wondering if anyone has a size 13 circular needle with at least a 30 inch cord that i could borrow. my s-i-l got yarn for me to make her a shawl with and the instructions call for such a needle. i've only got small ones (who would have guessed?) but would prefer not to buy them for this pretty quick project.
if you can hook me up i'd be ever so grateful. i'll be at flavours tonight so we could exchange your needle for my eternal gratitude.

New in town.
I am moving to Troy, NY in December. I am a new-ish knitter and thought this might be a nice way to meet some new people when I move there, since I won't know anyone except my boyfriend (he's moving in August for grad school at RPI). So, hi.
And, a question, since I can't find any communities related to this on LJ- we're going apartment hunting next Thursday and have been using craigslist.com to make a list of what we want to look at. Any suggestions on sketch and non-sketch parts of town? We want to be close enough to RPI for him to walk to school since parking there isn't so great. Thanks.

My mom is stranded in Albany tonight. I think she wants to come to S&B tonight, and, for lack of a better term, she's a bit on the Catholic end of things. Eep!

Knitting-ish talk tonight
There is a talk tonight at EMPAC by the woman who knits coral reefs, Margaret Wertheim. The talk is on the "mathematics as poetic enchantment."
Wertheim is co-founder of the Institute for Figuring. From the org's site:
The Institute's interests are twofold: the manifestation of figures in the world around us and the figurative technologies that humans have developed through the ages. From the physics of snowflakes and the hyperbolic geometry of sea slugs, to the mathematics of paper folding, the tiling patterns of Islamic mosaics and graphical models of the human mind, the Institute takes as its purview a complex ecology of figuring
Tickets are $15 and include dinner, which you need to RSVP for. I think it is free without dinner. The talk starts at 6:00
Can I talk anyone into going to this with me?!?! Please! http://www.empac.rpi.edu/events/2010/spring/wertheim/http://alloveralbany.com/archive/2010/02/09/the-poetic-enchantment-of-math----and-dinner Current Mood: geeky

Trip to Webs
There is a trip to Webs next Saturday. Saturday the 6th.
My car is unavailable, but we have other vehicles offered. Carrie's car can take 2-3, Kris can take 2-3, Beth can take 2-3 or maybe borrow her dad's minivan.
This is a multipurpose trip, both to feed yarn stashes and to celebrate the 2nd birthday of my favorite Ravelry group: Lazy, Stupid, and Godless.
The plan: arrive at Webs at 11, lunch at the Northampton Brewery at 1, and then back to Webs if we so desire.

The Early December Yarn Acquisition journey to Webs will be Saturday. I plan on leaving my house around 9 am. I have room in my car for up to 5 bodies other than my own. Food will be arbitrated later in the day.
Is anybody coming with me?
